The choice of Logo took about a year from the planning to the final selection process. It was the suggestion of Dr. Rajesh Rai, Hon Secretary BSS that the Banyan Tree be chosen as the logo. On the advice of principal DAV Hindi School Mr O.P. Rai & Mr. J.P.Rai the society approached Kanika Malik, a young student from India to draw the Banyan Tree. The ring around the Banyan Tree was done by 2 Singaporean Chinese, Mr. Nash Tan & Miss Norin Tan

Logo for Bhojpuri Society Singapore is the Banyan Tree. Why the Banyan Tree?

The Banyan tree is a special tree for Indians as it is provides the shade for the Panchayat to sit under.
Its strong roots represent our firm link to our heritage.
Its sturdy body allows it to withstand the strongest wind and typhoon just like the Bhojpuri people who can withstand all hardships.
The six branches represents the 6 Continents that Bhojpuri People live in.
The tree canopy links all branches just as we are one large family linked together by our Bhojpuri Roots

WELCOME ADDRESS BY CHAIRMAN PROTEM COMMITTEE BHOJPURI SOCIETY SINGAPORE 1400 HRS SUNDAY 18 SEP 2005 SHREE LAKSHMINARAYAN TEMPLE SINGAPORE

On behalf of Protem Committee Bhojpuri Society Singapore, I welcome all present on this historic day for our Community.

For years, we have yearned for an organisation that will bond our community and raise our profile in the Singaporean Indian Community. To day, with the Registration of Bhojpuri Society Singapore, we are now going to embark on activities that will remake Bhojpuri Society.

Our Bhojpuri Society will instill a sense of pride in our heritage by organising cultural and linguistic activities for the development of Bhojpuri Language, Music and Culture.

We will reach out to Immigrants of Bhojpuri Descent who come to our shores and help them settle in through a Sharing and Mentorship Programme.

We will also reach out to Bhojpuri Communities all over the world and link up in the spirit of kinsmanship and brotherhood.

With your assistance and support, Bhojpuri Society Singapore will reach out to all in our Community and create strong bonds through games, cultural programmes, heritage talks and other bonding activities.

Bhojpuri Society Singapore is for all Bhojpurians, By Bhojpurians and Of Bhojpurians and those who love Bhojpuri and want to support our activities irrespective of race and religion.

Today all of us are standing on the threshold of a gigantic step for our community. We will not turn back but move forward in a progressive manner.

With my comrades in the Protem Committee , we have one year to lay the groundwork for our 1^st AGM in Aug 2006. We will be organising many activities for all age groups and we are confident that you will support us wholeheartedly.

On behalf of the Protem Committee, I take this opportunity to thank Lakshmi Narain Mandir MC, Arya Samaj Mandir MC, Singapore North Indian Hindu Assn and BIJHAR Group for the tremendous support and good will over the last 12 months in supporting our efforts.

We also thank all the Volunteers ( Women, Men, Children) who came forward to give us their total support without any expectations in the last 12 months. They gave up their free time for the betterment of our community. They are our Unsung Heros and Heroines.
